Crochet Pattern: Simple Hairband
August 29, 2009 | 30 Minutes Crafts, Crochet, Free Pattern, Highlight
I was doing some house keeping in my craft room last few days, only to find out that I have so many left over yarns from my previous knitting and crocheting projects, oh dear!!! What am I going to do with them, I can’t just throw them away? They are neither enough to knit into garments, nor I can combine all of them to make one…. the colors are just “repulsive” when come together :p Since I am keeping long hair, why not make them into some hairbands!!!! You know, time is bad and I have to save a little when come to handicraft :p
I took some rubber hairbands and started to crochet, just a simple pattern. With combination of some yarns, I have made 8 hairbands in just an hour
They are shown below, just click “Next” to see all of them. I also showed the yarns I used for each hairband I have made. ….

Crochet Pattern: 5-Petal Flower
August 24, 2009 | Crochet, Free Pattern, Highlight
I created the crochet pattern for the blue 5-petal flower that I attached on “The Dazzles” after some requests from readers. And that was weeks ago, I have a tough time writing the crochet pattern as it involved 2 layers on the petals, front and rear, and they then join-up by single crochet the outer row along the petal. I want to make sure that my instruction is clear for you all to understand. So…. in order to make it easier to understand, I photographed and showed some of the easy-to-get-confuse instructions in pictures

Knit A Heart
August 15, 2009 | 30 Minutes Crafts, Knitting

It is not valentines yet!!!! But I knitted some hearts, just to celebrate Craft Passion’s 1st anniversary month in this August
I specially like the one shown above, red heart with beige background, it is also meant to symbolize “Passion” – so it does denote the name of “Craft Passion”, right?
I haven’t been knitting for years….. Yesterday, when I picked up my knitting needle again, I faltered, not because I forgot the way to knit but I was surprised that I still remember how to knit!!!! This is so natural, once I gripped my needle and yarn on my hand, I started to knit automatically. I don’t even have to refer to books or diagram for a warm-up. This could be due to my learning curve involved in this crafts……
I love knitting, like all my handicrafts know-how, I learned it from books. That was 28 years ago since I bought my first pair of cheap alloy knitting needle for a tryout. I bought my knitting needle without buying a book since I can’t find one with basic illustrations and diagrams in Malaysia, which has no great resources in this handicraft then. I asked and begged the craft store lady owner to teach me the basic knit and purl stitches thinking that she should know since she was selling those craft supplies, but ….

Sewing Tutorial: Reverse-Applique
I am into serious thinking about redesigning my header recently. Though the existing header which was done by my friend’s niece looks good but I want something really represent my handmade skill. What about I sew my own header instead of using computer graphic for it. That’s how I came out with the idea of reverse-applique of “Craft Passion”. While making it, I think of you! May be you want to try it out and make your favorite design into a reverse-applique embellishment

Little Penang Street Market – Part 2
August 4, 2009 | Other Craft
Continue from Part 1…..
I have a confession to make, that I have been peculiar about weaving since childhood, don’t know why, but the interlacing between the warp and the weft threads is so harmonious that they hold each other into places, this is what I like about it. When ever I was at Little Penang Street Market, I would stand beside this foot-treadle floor loom and watch this lady demonstrating the weaving process. When she asked me if I wanted to have a try, I shied away, sigh! I was worried that my hand, foot and eye coordination is so bad that I made a mess…. ha ha ha…. but I regreted immediately after I turned her offer down. Next visit, I would definately have a try on it, I promised. ….
