Bareback Halter Knit Top For Little Girl
Update: Free pattern is available here!
Finally, I completed the top for my daughter, Nicole. Although I didn’t finish it in time for her birthday, I finished it just in time for her birthday party that we are throwing for her and her brother, Ian. Since the both of them were born in the month of September but 5 years apart, we decided to have a double birthday party.
She was so happy and excited about it that she couldn’t wait to wear it and asked to put it on early in the morning… her birthday party was in the evening though! She said she is going to wear it the whole day until the party ends…. I took her to the poolside for some nice photos of her wearing it. I just did Lasik on Friday so my vision is not 100% perfect, glad to have my Canon DSLR, as it makes snapping photos easy and pretty, otherwise, I don’t think I can have any well focused photos to put up here LOL…
I am going to write ….

WIP: Bareback Halter Knit Top For Little Girl
September 23, 2009 | Highlight, Knitting, Work In Progress
I am still working on my knitting project…. it has been more that 3 weeks since I started the first stitch. This is for my daughter, I promised to knit something for her birthday, but I didn’t make it in time for her big day
She celebrated her 6th birthday 2 weeks ago and this project was not even 1/2 completed then. Why? I changed my mind during the process. Initially, I planned to knit her a hat, a cute skiing hat with droopy tip with an attached flower. After knitting about 40 rows, the yarn material didn’t turn out right for my pattern. Cotton yarn is too soft for the hat and may not be the right material to create the droopy look. I may have been wrong but I don’t want to take chance to create something that doesn’t meet my standard and design in the end. So, I paused it and started to think of a new design, but still trying to salvage and continue from where I have knitted so far. A bareback ….

The Spiky Hedgehog Purse
I really am in “spiky” fever these few days after making the Triangle Fold Coaster. I transformed those “spikies” into 2 hedgehog purses, which I have named Bluno and Reddy. They measure only about 10cm x 9cm. Bluno is a male hedgehog and Reddy is a female. They met each other in the park on one sunny morning, and this is how their story begins….. click “Next” below the photo to view the full storyboard of their meet-up.
Photographing them was not an easy task as compared with my previous crafts. I normally take indoor photos but this time it’s different. I need to pray ….

Sewing Tutorial-Triangle Fold Coaster
Thanks for the great response on the Granny’s Style Rag Rug I posted few days ago. Due to your many request to come up with a tutorial, I woke up at 4am this morning for you, my dear readers, took step-by-step photos to show you how to fold and sew those tiny triangles
Since I have limited fabric scraps to make a big piece of rag rug, I made a small one instead – a coaster. It’s a rushed job and not like my previous tutorials which would take up a few days to complete. I hope you will think that the quality is good….. It is now late in the afternoon while I write this post, and I need some super-duper-booster-coffee to keep my eyes
. Though I am tired and left my craft room in a mess because I need to rush out to work this morning, but, I am happy and contented with what I have done as long as it is related to creative handicraft and handmade, and most importantly I have you to read my creations
So, throw some requests if you need one, I will put them in the “Things-To-Do List” and will plan for it
Materials and Tools
Back to the tutorial. You will need the following materials and tools to make the coaster: ….

Rag Rug – Granny’s Style
This type of rag rug has been a part of my life since childhood as both my late grannies used to make it and distribute to all their kids, aka, my parents, aunts and uncles. The rug shown in the picture above was not done by my grannies nor me. I bought it from the market. I wasn’t lucky enough to own one from them as they passed away many years before I had my own family. The one in my mum’s house which was made by my granny is already mangled beyond recognition…. but my mum is still using it because it was handmade by her beloved late mother. If I am not mistaken, it should be more than 10 years old or even 20 years!!!! This type of rag rug is very good for absorbing water and trapping dirt eg. sand between the folds, yet easy to clean and it is durable. My mum ….

How To Style With Crochet Hairband
September 6, 2009 | Crochet
I have been keeping long hair for many years. Due to the humid and warm climate here in Malaysia, I sometimes think that it would be more comfortable to keep it short. Of course, I hold back this decision whenever that “short-hair-evil-thoughts” strike :p and just simply tie them up with anything I can grab of; a rubber band, a clip, sometimes even with a pen or a chop-stick if I couldn’t find any appropriate hair accessory in hand!!!!
For those out there with long hair like me who gets bored with monotonous hair style, now I have this to share with you!!!! How to style your long pretty hair into something fresh with your own handmade – Crochet hairband (click the link to get the pattern for ….
