This is the original idea of what I want to design and make instead of the kitty coin purse!!!! The test purse turned out too gentle and cute, so I made it into kitty purse. This one, with the ferocious look , it resembles more like a tiger now :)

This purse is 11cm W x 8cm H (11 cm from tip of ear) / 4 1/4” x 3 1/8“. Nice enough to keep some loose coins, notes, credit cards, or you can use it to keep your keys, or cosmetic for touching-up while out.

Just like the kitty coin purse, I used buff color polar fleece to fake the tiger’s fur. This time, I embroidered some branch stitches on the forehead and temporal points to mimic the tiger stripes. I also added a big muzzle on the tiger, sewed some black beads there to exaggerate the expressions. I gave it a pair of black button eyes, so it looks like it is staring at me (roar… I want to eat you, lol!!!). The nose bit is a piece of small black felt.

[At the background is the crochet tote I made many years ago, but I gave it a facelift last year by embellishing it with a daisy, put in lining and a zippy pocket, plus some elastic bands to hold contents in place.]

Let’s get the instruction of how to put the pattern together and sew the tiger coin purse. The method is ….

Told you that I haven’t got enough with locker hooking. This craft is really hooking me up. If you haven’t known how to do this, I have the tutorials for it, from basic preparation, locker hooking and finishing touch. Hover over to the tutorials now and get started with this fantastic craft.

This Welcome Home Rug / floor mat measures 78cm x 52cm (30 11/16“  x 20 1/2“).

As for the material, I used 4 solid colors of poly jersey interlock, dark brown (1 meter), turquoise (2 meters), olive green (1/2 meter), and baby pink (1/2 meter), cut them into 2cm wide strips. I specially love jersey interlock because both sides of the fabric are the identical, and it frays very little. Thus, it will give a fresher color and neater look to the project.

Let’s get ready for this project….. ….

As promised, I have completed the tutorial and the pattern for the “Be My Valentine – Piggy Pillow”, which was published 3 weeks ago. This time I made a pair for my kids, they love it.

You may not be able to do it in time for this valentine but as I said, if you have love in you, everyday is valentine. Hope you sew some for your loved ones no matter if it is Feb 14.

Besides as a pillow, you can use this pattern to make into other things, for example, pin cushion, smaller softy as gift, or a piggy back pack for little children. Just change the size by reducing or enlarging and modify it to fit into your design. You can even put a magnet on the nose to make them kissing each other, remember to reverse the polarity so that they attract to each other (Thanks to Jackie who left a comment to suggest this). Be creative, the upshot are endless!!! Love it :) ….

Sewing Tutorial: Kitty Coin Purse

Kitty Coin Purse - Flower

I made this kitty purse for my absent minded daughter who always lost or misplace her belongings. The size is just nice to keep some coins and small notes that she can put it in her school uniform’s pocket. The dimension is 8.5cm (W) x 8cm (H) [3 1/4" x 3"].

Like mother like daughter, I was an absent-minded kid myself too (looks like she inherited my bad gene, lol). Well, she lost the crochet purse I borrowed her. She knew that she is in big trouble since I love that purse a lot (she begged me a few times before I agreed to borrow her while waiting for her new purse). That purse was a master piece which I am going to write the pattern out and share it here one day. I had a mixed feeling when she told me that she has lost it at school. Sad that the purse is lost, happy that she expressed regrets about her carelessness  and will try to be careful next time. With the blessing of God, she found it back from the school’s lost and found department! I am happy, not because that the purse is recovered but ….

Now you have seen my Locker Hook tutorial on the Basic Preparation and Hook-Loop-Lock, and probably finishing a project up to this point (pattern here). I am going to show you how to tidy up the project by hiding away all the ends (fabric strips and locking yarn) and cover up the back of the work.

I am so proud of myself to come out with these coasters which I am giving them away! I brought them to Starbucks one afternoon when I needed a coffee kick to get my brains going. Took some photos of them with the coffee mug for the keepsake as I am going to mail this to Diana, the lucky winner who won them in my January Giveaway Draw. Well, I can always reproduce them, but the feeling will be different. ….
