Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!! May 2010 bring luck, joy and health to you and your loved ones!!!!

I am writing this on the day of Christmas Eve…. where has the days gone? It was like yesterday since I started making kanzashi Christmas Trees, then glittering some stars, wire wound some stars, followed by making holly berries, wreath, crochet Christmas Tree, plus some other crafts that I didn’t published here!!! A month passed by in just a blink of an eye, now, I am making my last Christmas craft for the year.

I made 2 Christmas Gift Stockings for my kids with their names on them and they are my last minute sewing projects. I thought I can never make it for the dead-line since I have to stay at home and take care of my son 24/7 whose nanny is on a 1-week emergency leave. With my determination and 4 “very” late-nights sewing, I made it!!! Yawn…. I really need a good rest after this Christmas, perhaps hibernate until 2010, lol… Just kidding, I will still continue making handicrafts but in slower pace. Don’t forget that I have another giveaway draw in early ….

Pom-Pom Faux Mink Scarf – October’s giveaway lucky draw!!!

Yes, I knitted this especially for my first ever giveaway contest which I plan to hold on a monthly basis. This fake mink fur scarf is made of 100% polyester micro fiber and is double layered, soft and warm. For some of you, weather is starting to chill, it will keep you warm, wrap around your neck, your head, cover your ears or just anywhere you want to keep warm. For those staying in the Southern Hemisphere, spring is coming, so this is nice to wrap around if you are wearing a little less for the fluctuating season. And, if you are in the tropical country like me, well, find a cold place to go (altitude and latitude wise) and create the opportunity to use it, or attend a dinner at a chillingly cold restaurant, ice-bar pub etc… This piece of wonderful scarf is a must in every girl’s wardrobe no matter where you stay. ….

Finally, I completed the top for my daughter, Nicole. Although I didn’t finish it in time for her birthday, I finished it just in time for her birthday party that we are throwing for her and her brother, Ian. Since the both of them were born in the month of September but 5 years apart, we decided to have a double birthday party.

She was so happy and excited about it that she couldn’t wait to wear it and asked to put it on early in the morning… her birthday party was in the evening though! She said she is going to wear it the whole day until the party ends…. I took her to the poolside for some nice photos of her wearing it. I just did Lasik on Friday so my vision is not 100%  perfect, glad to have my Canon DSLR, as it makes snapping photos easy and pretty, otherwise, I don’t think I can have any well focused photos to put up here LOL…

I am going to write ….

I am still working on my knitting project…. it has been more that 3 weeks since I started the first stitch. This is for my daughter, I promised to knit something for her birthday, but I didn’t make it in time for her big day :( She celebrated her 6th birthday 2 weeks ago and this project was not even 1/2 completed then. Why? I changed my mind during the process. Initially, I planned to knit her a hat, a cute skiing hat with droopy tip with an attached flower. After knitting about 40 rows, the yarn material didn’t turn out right for my pattern. Cotton yarn is too soft for the hat and may not be the right material to create the droopy look. I may have been wrong but I don’t want to take chance to create something that doesn’t meet my standard and design in the end. So, I paused it and started to think of a new design, but still trying to salvage and continue from where I have knitted so far. A bareback ….

Knit A Heart

Knit A Heart 1

It is not valentines yet!!!! But I knitted some hearts, just to celebrate Craft Passion’s 1st anniversary month in this August :-D I specially like the one shown above, red heart with beige background, it is also meant to symbolize “Passion” – so it does denote the name of “Craft Passion”, right?

I haven’t been knitting for years….. Yesterday, when I picked up my knitting needle again, I faltered, not because I forgot the way to knit but I was surprised that I still remember how to knit!!!! This is so natural, once I gripped my needle and yarn on my hand, I started to knit automatically. I don’t even have to refer to books or diagram for a warm-up. This could be due to my learning curve involved in this crafts……

I love knitting, like all my handicrafts know-how, I learned it from books.  That was 28 years ago since I bought my first pair of cheap alloy knitting needle for a tryout. I bought my knitting needle without buying a book since I can’t find one with basic illustrations and diagrams in Malaysia, which has no great resources in this handicraft then. I asked and begged the craft store lady owner to teach me the basic knit and purl stitches thinking that she should know since she was selling those craft supplies, but ….
