I really am in “spiky” fever these few days after making the Triangle Fold Coaster. I transformed those “spikies” into 2 hedgehog purses, which I have named Bluno and Reddy. They measure only about 10cm x 9cm. Bluno is a male hedgehog and Reddy is a female. They met each other in the park on one sunny morning, and this is how their story begins….. click “Next” below the photo to view the full storyboard of their meet-up.

Photographing them was not an easy task as compared with my previous crafts. I normally take indoor photos but this time it’s different. I need to pray …..

Blue Flower Frame Clutch Bag2About a month ago, I was having a chat with Sumay, my dear friend, via facebook. She was telling me that she is going to help raise funds for a charity with a party. She was extremely excited about it and told me it is for Rumah Nur Salam which shelters street and stateless children in Kuala Lumpur. She asked me if I wanted to contribute my craft as one of the auction items in this event… “Yes, why not!!!” I replied immediately, it would be so meaningful to contribute my handmade craft for such a good cause.  So, we discussed over the net, brain storming which type of craft should I do, what kind of design and how to make it worth the value in the auction etc…. Since my expertise is in handbag or purse-making, especially ball clasp closure frames clutch, we decided to go with it. This brain storming session for the handbag design took a few days and not only involving Sumay and I, …..

Crochetted Daisy Coin Purse

May 10, 2009

daisy-purse

Just can’t get enough of making this sweet daisies. The crochet hooks are like a magnet pulling my hands!!! I made this purse to match the tote bag but this time I used single strand yarn. By using single strand the daisy is smaller and about half the size of the one on the tote.

My mind is going to explode! I have the desire to write down the pattern of the basic purse. I have never done any pattern authoring before, this is my first trial. Please just be patient with me, I will need time to write, test to come up with a foolproof one to ensure that the pattern won’t bring you to never, never-land :p

Crocheted Stripe Coin Purse

April 11, 2009

crochet-stripe-purse2

Since I have some left over yarn from the daisy I made for my tote bag, I made a coin purse to go with it. This is my first trial in making a frame-clutch coin purse with crocheted yarn. Not bad huh!

I am going to make more of this as I find it not as difficult as I thought, except the sewing part to attach the metal frame clutch onto the purse.

Recently I was struggling with this issue: “should I make some crafts for sale?”…. You know, economy is bad and my hobby has become a luxury expenditure in the household. I know I have to do something to get my hobby going without burdening the family. One thing I can think of is to sell some of my handmade creations and generate some income to fund my next project and so on…. But, it saddens me that I am commercialising my craftwork. What do you think, should I?
