Make Colorful DIY Easter Egg Planter

Spring is here and Easter is on it’s way…. I am joining the fun of dyeing some colorful Easter Eggs this year. Making them into Easter Egg Planters that’s full of green wheat grasses.

The Easter Egg Planters are easy to make and the wheat grasses only need 5-7 days to grow from seeds to their full height. When the wheat grasses turn old and yellow, simply trim them off near to the soil and let them re-grow again. You can even harvest the green wheat grass and mix it in you fresh fruits with blender or fruits juicer.

I love to place these little Easter Egg Planters by the windowsill that helps enlighten up my dull and boring windows. So colorful to make my day happy to wake up with. However, daily care needed by watering (only wetting the soil) them 2-3 times a day and a windowsill with about 4-5 hours of soft sunlight. Not only the colorful egg shells and green wheat grasses brighten up my day, if I am lucky enough, there are some beautiful dew drops build-up at the tips of the wheat grasses in the morning. If you have read my previous post, I even took some Shamrock Bokeh Lights photography from the reflections of the dew drops too.

I made these Easter Egg Planters before my Hong Kong Disneyland trip and time flies, today is my last night here in this havenly place that I would want to stay longer. I bet when I am back home, the wheat grasses could have grown into another round of new shoots, thanks to my hubby who stays at home after work taking care of my son and these few little cuties.

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year, I would like to wish all my Chinese readers and visitors a very Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Ca! 新年快乐，万事如意， 龙马精神，身体健康, 恭喜发财！

During the 15 days of Chinese New Year celebration, the most common traditional event you will get to see is Lion and Dragon Dance. I can’t make those big real size dragon costumes but I found a kid craft tutorial of making a Chinese Dragon Puppet at Family Fun, hope you like it.

This year, Chinese New Year comes a little early than usual, normally it falls between end of Jan to mid of Feb. According to Chinese / Lunar Calendar, the year change to Dragon on 4th of February, the official day of Spring [立春]. Baby born after the day of spring [立春] is called dragon baby, whilst who born before 4th Feb 2012 is still a Rabbit baby.

[The Chinese dragon (simplified Chinese: 龙; traditional Chinese: 龍; pinyin: lóng) is the highest-ranking animal in the Chinese animal hierarchy, strongly associated at one time with the emperor and hence power and majesty (the mythical bird fenghuang was the symbol of the Chinese empress), still recognized and revered. Its origins are vague, but its "ancestors can be found on Neolithic pottery as well as Bronze Age ritual vessels."[17] Tradition has it composed of nine different animals, with nine sons, each with its own imagery and affiliations. It is the only mythological animal of the 12 animals that represent the Chinese calendar. 2012 is the Chinese year of the Water Dragon.
