<p>As promised in my <a title="Sock Bunny Sewing Tutorial" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/05/sock-bunny-sewing-tutorial.html" target="_blank">previous sock bunny sewing tutorial</a>, here comes the kawai-i version &#8211; the &#8220;Droopy Ear Sock Bunny&#8221;. This bunny can sits on its own, it is great as toy for kid and as well as for home decoration. Hope you like it and made some for your loved ones.</p>
<p>Again, it is a single sock sewing, perfect if you have some don&#8217;t-know-what-to-do stray socks laying around that are still &#8220;new&#8221;. Or, you can make twins bunny with a new pair of socks.</p>
<p>Since there have been quite some sock tutorials here, including the <a title="How To Sew Sock Monkey" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/04/how-to-sew-sock-monkey.html/2" target="_blank">sock monkey</a>, <a title="Sewing: Sock Kitty Tutorial {Guest Tutor}" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2010/09/sewing-sock-kitty-tutorial-guest-tutor.html" target="_blank">sock kitty</a> and <a title="Sewing: Sock Skeleton {With Tutorial}" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2010/10/sewing-sock-skeleton-with-tutorial.html" target="_blank">sock skeleton</a>, I will have this tutorial a little simplified on the step photos. If you want to view more photos on the detail, perhaps a visit to the <a title="Sock Bunny Sewing Tutorial" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/05/sock-bunny-sewing-tutorial.html/2" target="_blank">previous sock bunny tutorial</a> will be a good start for a beginner or if you haven&#8217;t been there before.</p>
<p>Happy Sewing!</p>

<br />
After a great success on making a bunch of <a title="How To Sew Sock Monkey" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/04/how-to-sew-sock-monkey.html" target="_blank">sock monkeys</a>, I challenged myself sewing another sock toy&#8230; this time I designed and sewed sock bunny. Not only this, I have got a good news to whom who loves bunny, I have another version, a kawai-i version of bunny, <del>stay tuned for the update</del> {update: here it is, the <a title="Sew Sock Bunny {Droopy Ear Version}" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/06/sew-sock-bunny-droopy-ear-version.html" target="_blank">droopy ear sock bunny tutorial</a>}.</p>
<p>Unlike many sock toys that needs a pair of socks to sew, each sock bunny only needs one (1) sock to make. With a pair of socks you can make a pair of bunny couples. If you have a rather new sock that lost it&#8217;s partner, you can make a bunny with it instead of throwing it away. You may use different sizes of socks to come out with various sizes of sock bunnies.</p>
<p>The sock bunny can&#8217;t sit on its own, I pinned them down for photography purpose. You may add beads or rice to make the bottom heavier so that it can sit properly. Add the rice or beads in a small sachet and insert it into the body before closing up the opening to avoid the small particles from slipping out from the sock. Otherwise, you may add a string on it&#8217;s head to hang it up. Pinch the head and lift it up to find a balancing point to add string to hang.</p>
<p>[If you are interested on the felted carrot shown at the background, <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/03/how-to-needle-felt-carrot.html" target="_blank">here</a> is the tutorial to make it.]</p>

<br />
Gosh&#8230; I am supposed to sew some thing for the Earth Month this April, but I can&#8217;t wait to sew these sock monkeys. My hands simply took over my head and see what I did after a few days and nights of sewing&#8230;. a house full of sock monkeys!!!! Do you love them?</p>
<p>I have seen a lot of sock monkey photos hanging around friends&#8217; photo albums in many photo sharing websites, so envy. These sock monkeys are so cute and so adorable that I would want to hug one, I bet my kids would love to have them to accompany too when mommy is busy with works. Therefore, I went out to shop for some socks thinking that may be 4 to 5 pairs should be enough, I ended up with 20 pairs of colorful socks, simply can&#8217;t resist for not buying <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';-)' class='wp-smiley' /> . I made a few prototypes and showed them to my parents, siblings and their families during a dinner. Now, everyone wants one from me&#8230;. ha ha ha&#8230; Seeing their positive responses, I am certain that you will want one too <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif' alt='' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8230;. After a few researches and findings, here is my version of sock monkey. Though it may looks a bit different from the popular vintage sock monkey of <a href="http://www.foxsox.com/Catalog/category.aspx?code=ROCK" target="_blank">Red-Heel</a> that comes with a red lip but it is surely as lovely.</p>
<p>With different sizes of socks, I made the sock monkey out of a family, from baby, toddlers, teens to adult. 3rd picture in the above album shows the family photo of the sock monkey, from daddy, mommy, sister, brother, triplet toddlers, and a baby. Not forgetting a brown sock monkey, the photographer who took this family photo that can do yoga. The sister (in purple stripes) who has magnets on her limbs are good in exercise and can be hung on any metal surface. Click next on the above photo album to see them all.</p>
<p>The siblings are indeed loving each other, not only they are huggy to human, but they also hug each other, like this one.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/gallery/sock-monkey/sock-monkey-hug-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone" title="sock monkey sizes" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/gallery/sock-monkey/sock-monkey-hug-2.jpg" alt="sock monkey sizes" width="588" height="735" /></a></p>

Halloween is just a week away&#8230;. I am counting down and rounding up the Halloween crafts then I can go &#8220;Boo&#8221;ing around and have fun.</p>
<p>But, before I am allowed to go, I took one of the ghosts from the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2011/10/halloween-ghost-lights.html" target="_blank">ghost lights </a>and toss it in a glass jar. He has been naughty lately and not following the rules. This time he ain&#8217;t going with me, I hope he learned a <span id="more-15834"></span>good lesson and behave well when I am back.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Jack-O-Lantern-lights-no.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-15858" title="Holiday light mini jack o lanterns" alt="Holiday light mini jack o lanterns" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Jack-O-Lantern-lights-no.jpg" width="588" height="392" /></a><br />
Along with the ghost lights decoration, I found a bunch of mini mandarin oranges holiday lights in my store room which I have been decorating for my Chinese New year since years. Now, they become part of my Halloween light decorations. All I have to do is to draw the oranges with permanent marker, easy and quick!!!</p>
<p>Here is the round-up of Halloween crafts of 2009-2011:<br />

<p>I think this is the most spooky cute handmade I have ever made &#8230; ha ha ha&#8230; Even I feel eerie watching them sitting there&#8230;. Welcome the Mr. &amp; Mrs Skeleton!!! [More pictures in the gallery] Let them startle your guests when they come for trick or treating!!! You might be interested to make the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/10/pom-pom-tutorial-spooky-halloween-jack-o-lantern.html" target="_blank">pumpkin</a> and the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/10/pom-pom-tutorial-eerie-black-widow-spider.html" target="_blank">spider</a> from <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/category/quick-craft/pom-pom-30-minutes-crafts" target="_blank">pom pom</a> as well and set them up in a corner of your door step, and</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><span style="font-size: xx-large;">Boo</span>ooo</span><span style="font-size: large;">ooo</span><span style="font-size: medium;">ooo</span><span style="font-size: x-small;">ooo</span></span>!!!</p>
<p>I was searching for Halloween decoration ideas when I stumbled upon <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com" target="_blank">Martha Stewart website</a> and found the <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/article/sock-skeleton" target="_blank">basic sock skeleton</a> (aka the Mr. Skeleton), I love the idea and it seems pretty easy to sew too. I always wanted to sew a sock doll after seeing Brenda&#8217;s guest tutorial on the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2010/09/sewing-sock-kitty-tutorial-guest-tutor.html" target="_blank">sock kitty</a>. This sock skeleton is the prefect one for me to try out at this moment, in preparing for the upcoming Halloween.</p>
<p>So, there I was, cast my first trial, it was really an easy-peasy job. I got it done pretty fast even though it was just my first try (the video in Martha&#8217;s site was really awesome, thanks Martha!!!). I was overjoyed and couldn&#8217;t wait to share it, so I took a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5620421&amp;fbid=445531101528&amp;id=139850046528" target="_blank">quick photo</a> and shared it in my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/CraftPassion" target="_blank">facebook page</a>. On the very fist glimpse, I can feel that Mr. Skeleton was so lonely sitting on the ladder by himself&#8230; oh poor guy&#8230;. that&#8217;s where I got the idea to make a companion for him, Mrs. Skeleton <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> Get the tutorial and how to &#8230;</p>
<p>By the way, before jumping to the how-to, I have a story to tell…. There was an eerie thing during the process of sewing Mrs. Skeleton&#8230; no, no, she didn&#8217;t stand up, walk or dance in the middle of the night when I left her in my craft room, LOL!!! Do you think she looks similar to the late &#8220;King Of Pop&#8221; who debuted his famous moonwalk dance? No? imagine again if her hair is black&#8230;. eweee&#8230;. I intended to sew her a black hair, but I changed it to orangy brown because it really chilled me out, also, I don&#8217;t want her to look like my favorite pop idol, he is a &#8220;HE&#8221; not a &#8220;SHE&#8221;!</p>

<p><em>I wanted to try sewing sock plushies since months ago but keep on postponing due to my long craft lists and ideas, until I saw Brenda of <a href="http://krafteebee.com/" target="_blank">KrafteeBee</a> posted her long ear sock cat, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/JoanneCraftPassion#!/photo.php?pid=154477&amp;id=110801548966729&amp;ref=fbx_album" target="_blank">Gumbo</a>, I can&#8217;t resist for not asking her to guest post in Craft Passion. I want to share with you how to sew sock plushies while I learn from her!!!</em></p>
<p><em>Brenda, who is also known as Sweetee Bee in KrafteeBee blog is a working mum with 2 lovely 20 month-old twins, Aiden and Caileigh, twins! TWINS? Yes, TWINS!!! How astonishing that she can handle both of them, yet, work and craft at the same time!!!! She told me she craft while her twins are having their naps. Looks like sock plushies is the perfect sewing craft for some quickie projects during kid&#8217;s naptime, moreover, when they wake up, they will have a brand new soft stuffed toy to play with. </em></p>
<p><em>Besides the sock plushies she made, I like <a href="http://krafteebee.com/280/lovely-bloomies-for-a-bright-day/">this tutorial</a> too.<br />
</em></p>
<p><em>Let&#8217;s see how to sew this cute little sock kitty, Brenda called her Lenny, after this jump.</em><span id="more-6650"></span></p>
<p>*****************************************************************</p>
<p>Guest Tutor: Brenda of <a href="http://krafteebee.com/" target="_blank">KrafteeBee</a></p>
<p>When I shared pics of <a href="http://www.facebook.com/JoanneCraftPassion#%21/photo.php?pid=154477&amp;id=110801548966729&amp;ref=fbx_album&amp;fbid=126256024087948">Gumbo</a> and Gummy, I received a pleasant surprise one day…. an offer to be a Guest Post in Craft Passion site!!! I was so thrilled and practically jumped up in the air as it’s a huge compliment to me and all the hardworks I had been putting in.   Thanks so much for giving me such a great opportunity to share.</p>
<p>I spent a lot of time doing research and perfecting my skills on making sock plushies. It’s quite a new craft that I&#8217;ve picked up recently. The more I do, the more I like it. Actually, the journey of sock plushies was quite hilarious. When I made <a href="http://www.facebook.com/JoanneCraftPassion#!/photo.php?pid=183990&amp;id=110801548966729&amp;ref=fbx_album&amp;fbid=132227966824087" target="_blank">Checkie the sock Bunny</a>, Aidan saw it…. took it…. and ran away with it. He looked so cute holding the bunny and running away from me. When I tried to get it back, he just hang onto Bunny even tighter.</p>
<p>Then, when I made <a href="http://www.facebook.com/JoanneCraftPassion#!/photo.php?pid=188052&amp;id=110801548966729&amp;ref=fbx_album&amp;fbid=133013873412163" target="_blank">CoCo the sock monkey</a>, Caileigh took it into her hands and tried to sit Coco down….very gently. After CoCo sits down, she sat next to CoCo and talked to her… how sweet…. my princess!</p>
<p>Since they love it so much, may be I should make a few more for their birthday. What animals do you think I should make? :p How about sock fish?</p>
<p><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Ingredients.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6768" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Ingredients.jpg" alt="Materials for Sewing Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Sock dolls or plushies are getting very popular amongst crafters, it is  easy and fun.<br />
<strong>Items needed</strong><br />
1. Socks<br />
2. Scissors<br />
3. Polyfill<br />
4. Thread and needle<br />
5. Buttons and yarn for deco<br />
</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-1-Cut-up-the-sock-into-desired-size.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6769" title="Step-1-Cut-up-the-sock-into-desired-size" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-1-Cut-up-the-sock-into-desired-size.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a><strong>Steps of instructions:</strong><br />
Step 1: First you will need to cut up the sock to the length that you like.  I cut the sock shorter for a short and stout kitty.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-2-Fill-up-the-sock.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6770" title="Step-2-Fill-up-the-sock" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-2-Fill-up-the-sock.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Step 2: Stuff the body and the head of kitty with polyfill. Do ensure that the ball of polyfill for the body is bigger than the head.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-3-Pin-the-opening.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6771" title="Step-3-Pin-the-opening" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-3-Pin-the-opening.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="213" /></a>Step 3: Once stuffed, fold the opening inward and pin them down for a smoother and tougher finishing. The raw edge of the cut frays easily.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-4-Slip-stitch.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6772" title="Step-4-Slip-stitch" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-4-Slip-stitch.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Step 4: With slip stitch, close up the opening and remember to tug the ends a little bit to shape the kitty&#8217;s ears.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-5-Mold-the-cat-shape-and-ears.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6773" title="Step-5-Mold-the-cat-shape-and-ears" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-5-Mold-the-cat-shape-and-ears.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Step 5: Mold the body and head into a nice round shape with hands. Do tug the ears too to make it pointy.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-6-Slip-the-stitch-in-from-the-opening.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6774" title="Step-6-Slip-the-stitch-in-from-the-opening" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-6-Slip-the-stitch-in-from-the-opening.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Step 6: To do stitches on kitty&#8217;s face, slip the thread in via the opening end. This way, you can hide the stitches nicely.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-7-Draw-the-face-and-start-stitching.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6775" title="Step-7-Draw-the-face-and-start-stitching" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-7-Draw-the-face-and-start-stitching.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="250" height="250" /></a>Step 7: Draw kitty&#8217;s face using a fabric pen and then start stitching.<br />
</span><br />
<span style="float: left;"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-8-Take-Lenny-out-for-a-walk.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-6776" title="Step-8-Take-Lenny-out-for-a-walk" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Step-8-Take-Lenny-out-for-a-walk.jpg" alt="How to Sew Sock Kitty" width="400" height="473" /></a>Step 8: Finally, take Lenny out for a walk in the bright sunny afternoon <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </span><br />
As you can see, making sock plushies is not very difficult. Just some imagination and needlework and I hope that you like this.</p>
