I sewed a wire hanger awning roof holder to keep my <a title="Sew Christmas Placemats &amp; Coasters" href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2012/11/sew-christmas-placemats-coasters.html" target="_blank">Christmas placemats and coasters </a>tidy when not in use. I called it &#8220;Homey Placemats &amp; Coasters Holder&#8221; since it resembles the shape of a house. It can be a piece of pretty Christmas and home decor by hanging it on a niche place to show off.</p>
<p>The concept is simple, combine a clipboard to a wire clothes hanger, sew a roof awning cover and wear it down onto the hanger like the way you hang your clothes. Clip the placemats onto the clip board and hang the coasters on the buttons. You may change the color theme to suit the festive and your placemat and coaster sets, even adapt the design to have your own taste. Click next page to get the detail tutorials.</p>
<p>More Christmas Crafts coming up next. I begin to have more time to prepare and share more tutorials as the Christmas day is approaching. So please stay tuned!</p>
<p>Before flipping to the next page, Happy Thanksgiving!!! I will be putting up my Christmas tree this weekend, decorating Christmas tree with Christmas songs playing is one of my favorite event of the year.</p>

I am obsessed to Poinsettia, I don&#8217;t know why, but I just love this red leaves flower that brings festive mood to my home every end of the year. Last year, I crochet some <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2010/12/crochet-poinsettia-coaster-pattern-tutorial.html" target="_blank">poinsettia coasters</a> which don&#8217;t really look like poinsettia except for the color tone&#8230; <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif' alt='' class='wp-smiley' /> but they really get me into the mood of Christmas. This year, I make poinsettia again and this time with fabrics and wires.</p>
<p>These fabric poinsettia flowers can be made into a flower bouquet for table decoration during Christmas, or <span id="more-17034"></span>as ornaments for your Christmas tree and other decorations like wreath etc&#8230; You may add some glitters to the flower by applying glue along the petals&#8217; edges and veins, the spread some glitters on them and set them aside for drying.</p>
<p>Happy making this fabric poinsettia and Merry Christmas&#8230;&#8230;</p>

Halloween is just a week away&#8230;. I am counting down and rounding up the Halloween crafts then I can go &#8220;Boo&#8221;ing around and have fun.</p>
<p>But, before I am allowed to go, I took one of the ghosts from the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2011/10/halloween-ghost-lights.html" target="_blank">ghost lights </a>and toss it in a glass jar. He has been naughty lately and not following the rules. This time he ain&#8217;t going with me, I hope he learned a <span id="more-15834"></span>good lesson and behave well when I am back.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Jack-O-Lantern-lights-no.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-15858" title="Holiday light mini jack o lanterns" alt="Holiday light mini jack o lanterns" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Jack-O-Lantern-lights-no.jpg" width="588" height="392" /></a><br />
Along with the ghost lights decoration, I found a bunch of mini mandarin oranges holiday lights in my store room which I have been decorating for my Chinese New year since years. Now, they become part of my Halloween light decorations. All I have to do is to draw the oranges with permanent marker, easy and quick!!!</p>
<p>Here is the round-up of Halloween crafts of 2009-2011:<br />

<p>Well, I have to confess that I need to be more efficient when come to blog&#8230;.. This photo was taken on the Mother&#8217;s Day, with my daughter holding the carnation she made&#8230;. 24 hours a day seems not enough for me, lol!!</p>
<p>She learned to make a tissue carnation from her teacher a day before Mother&#8217;s day. She came back home and showed me, she told me she is going to make some for her grandma and aunties for the next day&#8217;s gathering to celebrate the Mother&#8217;s Day. She demonstrated it with a white normal tissue paper, then painted the flower with multi-color water color. It looks colorful but a bit troublesome, so I suggested her to use the left-over colored tissue paper that was in our cabinet since her last birthday. She is so happy since this save her lots of time and the red color is perfectly pretty for the celebration.</p>
<p>&#8220;Mom, can I put this up in your blog? I want to share this with your readers&#8230;&#8221;&#8230;. &#8220;why not?&#8221; It is never too late to share beautiful things though it is already pass the 2nd Sunday of May, moreover, there are some countries who celebrates mother&#8217;s day later this year, or perhaps make it for other occasions. Well, if you miss it this year, please bookmark or add this page to favorites and you still can do it for next <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother%27s_Day" target="_blank">mother&#8217;s day</a> <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8230;. So, she started to work on them&#8230;.. and I started to take photo as she goes&#8230;</p>
<p>She managed to get 3 flowers finished in 1 hour including all the pauses for me to take photos, so she gave 1 to her grandma (my mum) and 2 to her aunties (my sister and sister-in law). Did she forget about me????&#8230; she said &#8220;mum, you can always make a better one for yourself!&#8221;&#8230;. &#8220;oh no&#8230;.but I want one from you?&#8221; This mummy end up didn&#8217;t get the flower from her daughter, poor me <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> BUT&#8230;.. I have a belated present from hubby&#8230;. a &#8220;Super Mom&#8221; organic t-shirt he ordered from <a href="http://www.cafepress.com/" target="_blank">Cafe Press</a>, lol!!!</p>
<p>HAPPY MOTHER&#8217;S DAY!!!!</p>

This year I am making my own wreath for  Christmas. Not only 1 but I made 2 identical wreaths, one for myself and another one for my friend.<br />
<a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/sewing-tutorial-felt-holly-berries.html" target="_blank"></a><br />
I don&#8217;t usually put up a wreath during Christmas but this year I have to, to substitute my 6&#8242; Christmas Tree which I put up every December. My son is at an age where he is curious about everything, so I suspect he will literally pull everything down, including the tree itself. No way to risk his life with broken baubles as I know he will definitely get to the tree even if I place it at a height beyond his height. He is quite the climber too!!!!</p>
<p>In early December, my 6 year old daughter asked me &#8221; Mum, when are we going to put up our Christmas Tree?&#8221; because she noticed that I did not bring her to buy new decorations. &#8220;Dear, we can&#8217;t put up a Christmas tree this year&#8221; and told her the reason above. She accepted the fact with disappointment. Oh no&#8230; my heart broke as I knew that she loves December because it is the month that she can decorate the Christmas Tree and see the tree lighted up during the night. So, I decided to make some changes by transferring the decoration and light from the tree to wreath.</p>
<p>I finally got them done, hung it up and lit it up too. Seeing both my daughter and son so happy to see the wreath, made me even happier <img src='http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I also designed and made 2 of the ornaments for these wreath, crochet Christmas Tree (pattern will be given in upcoming post), <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/sewing-tutorial-felt-holly-berries.html" target="_blank">Holly Berries</a> (instructions are at my <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/sewing-tutorial-felt-holly-berries.html" target="_blank">previous post</a>). Besides that, I refurbished my old candy cane and jingle bell ornaments by glittering them.</p>
<p>If you wish to do your own wreath from scratch, these are the steps:<span id="more-2887"></span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP1.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2890" title="Wreath-WIP1" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP1.jpg" alt="Wreath-WIP1" width="250" height="250" /></a>Material:<br />
1. Fake pine garland<br />
2. Wire<br />
3. Floral tape (green)<br />
4. Planter&#8217;s twist-tie wire<br />
5. Christmas ornament and light of your choice.<br />
6. Hot glue gun<br />
Prepare the wire in round shape and wind them with green floral tape.<br />
I used a 10 inches stew-pot to roll the wire in 2 rounds so that the shape is firmer.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP2.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2891" title="Wreath-WIP2" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP2.jpg" alt="Wreath-WIP2" width="250" height="250" /></a> Tie the fake pine garland along the wire with twist-tie. Go one round, cut off the extra length of the pine garland.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP3.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2892" title="Wreath-WIP3" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP3.jpg" alt="Wreath-WIP3" width="250" height="250" /></a>This is how it looks.<br />
If you prefer denser wreath and still have enough fake pine, you can do another round. I used 1 round.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP4.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2888" title="Wreath-WIP4" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP4.jpg" alt="Wreath-WIP4" width="250" height="250" /></a>Tie a big ribbon and glue it at the bottom center of the wreath.<br />
Glue the baubles at both right and left of the wreath, and put one on the top center as well.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP5.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2897" title="Wreath-WIP5" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-WIP5.jpg" alt="Wreath-WIP5" width="250" height="250" /></a>Continue the gluing with <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/sewing-tutorial-felt-holly-berries.html" target="_blank">Holly berries</a>, pinecones, beads garland etc.<br />
Finally, hang the ornaments to the wreath.</span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-End.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2899" title="Wreath-End" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Wreath-End.jpg" alt="Wreath-End" width="588" height="600" /></a><br />
This is the wreath before the light decoration.</p>

<p>Unbelievable, Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!!!! I have so  many Christmas crafts in mind, gosh&#8230;. looks like I have to carry forward some of the projects to next year.</p>
<p>The Star is one of the best symbols to represent Christmas. I couldn&#8217;t help myself so I had to do another &#8220;Star&#8221; project after the &#8220;<a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/tutorial-twinkle-twinkle-little-star.html" target="_blank">Twinkle Twinkle Little Star</a>&#8220;. If Christmas Day is still another month away, and I didn&#8217;t get a viral attack which slowed me down, I would have come out with a sewing star, crochet star, perhaps weaving star etc&#8230;.</p>
<p>I received some feedback from you that it is not easy to find the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/tutorial-twinkle-twinkle-little-star.html" target="_blank">foam star</a> I showed in my previous tutorial. So, I came out with an alternative to the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/tutorial-twinkle-twinkle-little-star.html" target="_blank">foam stars</a> and made of materials you definitely can obtain from the hardware shop and craft store&#8230; All you need for making this winding star are:<span id="more-2792"></span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP1.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2795" title="Star_wire-WIP1" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP1.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP1" width="250" height="250" /></a>Material:<br />
1. Wood plank<br />
2. Hammer<br />
3. Nails (prefer those with small head)<br />
4. <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/star-pattern.pdf" target="_blank">Star Patterns</a> (download the patterns <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/star-pattern.pdf" target="_blank">here</a> with 4 different sizes)<br />
5. Adhesive tape<br />
6. Decorative wires&#8230;.. floral wires, pipe cleaners, aluminium wire&#8230; etc&#8230;<br />
7. Fastener Floral wire (Gauge 34) for fastening, you can use upholstery thread but make sure they are strong for you to pull and tie the wires together.<br />
<a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP1.jpg"></a><br />
Arrange the star patterns on the wood plank and secure them with adhesive tape.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP2.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2796" title="Star_wire-WIP2" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP2.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP2" width="250" height="250" /></a>Hammer down the nails at the star tips. Each star has 5 tips.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP3.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2797" title="Star_wire-WIP3" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP3.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP3" width="250" height="250" /></a>Wind your wire follow the dash line on the pattern.<br />
Pull the wire to straighten it while bending at the tip.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP4.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2798" title="Star_wire-WIP4" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP4.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP4" width="250" height="250" /></a>Bend the start end up to meet the finishing end as shown. Cut off excessive wire at the start end, but don&#8217;t cut the finishing end.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP5.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2799" title="Star_wire-WIP5" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP5.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP5" width="250" height="250" /></a>Bend the finishing end down 90 deg and tie the crossed wires with fastener floral wire. Wind the fastener wires 2 rounds on the joint and twist both ends together until they securely fasten the joint at the star.Hide the fastener wire.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP6.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2800" title="Star_wire-WIP6" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP6.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP6" width="250" height="250" /></a>Secure at least another 2 joints to stabilize the star.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP7.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2801" title="Star_wire-WIP7" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP7.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP7" width="250" height="250" /></a>Just like the way I glitter the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/tutorial-twinkle-twinkle-little-star.html" target="_blank">foam star</a>, apply glue all over the wires that you want to glitter. Dip or sprinkle the glitters onto the star.<br />
Apply glue and dip or sprinkle again if necessary.</span></p>
<p><span style="float: left"><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP8.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-2794" title="Star_wire-WIP8" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-WIP8.jpg" alt="Star_wire-WIP8" width="250" height="250" /></a>Insert the end onto the floral sponge while wait for them to dry.<br />
Cut off the extra wire and tie a string then they are ready to be hang on the tree.<br />
You can even add the stars on the old Christmas Tree Ornaments to give them a new look.</span></p>
<p><a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-End.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2793" title="Star_wire-End" src="http://www.craftpassion.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Star_wire-End.jpg" alt="Star_wire-End" width="588" height="392" /></a><br />
You can try other wires as well. I especially like the Pipe Cleaners Star as it is the easiest to make and the effect is &#8220;sparkling&#8221;&#8230;.</p>
<p>You can even make this star and place it on the top of the <a href="http://www.craftpassion.com/2009/12/sewing-tutorial-kanzashi-christmas-tree.html" target="_blank">Kanzashi Christmas Tree</a> or any of your favorite table top Christmas Trees.</p>
<p>Try them out today and I would be more than happy if you show me your version!!!</p>
<p>Let us wish upon a star together that there would be peace in this world.</p>
