Crochet Apple Amigurumi Pattern

Posted on Last updated: /

The idea of creating a crochet apple amigurumi pattern hit me instantly while I am cutting up the apples for the apple crumble muffins. If you’ve read my delicious apple crumble muffins recipe, you will notice a red apple in the photo, but that is the small apple I got the pattern from a book. I want something bigger, something like the size of a big Granny Smith Apple, juicy and delicious, so I came out with this design adapted from the small crochet apple pattern.

I crocheted the apple amigurumi again, and this time I made them into kawaii apples by adding eyes, lip, crochet flower, and crochet butterfly.

If you want to add some character to the amigurumi apple, here are a few ideas. For further development on this big apple amigurumi pattern, you may:
1. add a worm with its head sticking out from the apple.
2. Add eyes and a smiling mouth with a rosy cheek for a kawaii look.
3. Use rainbow color yarn to create a rainbow apple.

Made these as an end of the year present for my kids' teachers! Thank you for an easy to follow, versatile, cute, free pattern! I used 4 ply yarn with a 3.5mm hook, which ended up making it much larger than I wanted. I figured out that to get the size to my liking, I simply followed your instructions for rounds 1-8, then did 4 rows of {36}, then I skipped to round 27 and followed through until the end. And I found a different pattern for the leaf that was more round. (No offense!) Added a sweet little face and I couldn't be happier. Thanks again!!!!
