Here we are, back with yet another free amigurumi pattern! We’ve indeed been busy in the Craft Passion village. Join us today in welcoming Pegilop, the Crochet Pig Amigurumi. Keep reading to find out more about her.
With the addition of this adorable stuffed pig to our crochet animal wildlife collection, we now have a total of 20 crochet animal designs.
We never had to worry about Pegilop fitting in with her new friends because she is a social butterfly. Her intelligence and attention to detail have brought the Amigurumi community closer than ever before. Her ears are always perked up, which makes her an excellent listener.
Features Of Crochet Pig
Standing at 11″ tall, this Amigurumi Pig, Pegilop, is the perfect huggable stuffed animal. Simply stuff your pig tightly to give it a good shape!
Besides having some artistic dirt spots, Pegilop, the crochet pig has a pink-colored body with unique grey-colored hooves. Pig hooves, like human nails, need regular trimming and special care to avoid overgrowth and lameness. It’s important because their cloven hooves keep them balanced as they walk through their favorite mud pool.
Crochet Skill Level Needed
This crochet pig amigurumi is suitable for intermediate-skilled crocheters; however, avid beginners should be able to crochet this cute pig as well. Depending on how well-versed you are in crochet, the project may take roughly two days to complete. Remember, it’s okay to go slow.
Take your time to read through the amigurumi pig crochet pattern before beginning. Doing so will ensure that you don’t fasten at the wrong round or use the incorrect crochet stitch.
The necessary crochet stitches are the chain stitch, the single crochet stitch, and the increase and decrease of the single crochet stitch. As with the majority of amigurumi patterns, you must be able to start crocheting with a magic ring and crochet around a foundation chain.
Here is the list of the basic crochet stitches that you need:
- chain stitch (ch)
- magic ring
- single crochet stitch (sc) and how to increase and decrease stitches
- slip stitch (sl st)
Do not hesitate to read our full beginner guides on how to crochet and make crochet animals (amigurumi) if you need more information on the basics.
Crochet Supplies & Tools
To make your crochet pig, you will need acrylic yarn in pink and gray, 10mm dome-button eyes, craft pipe cleaner or craft floral wire (to make a tail that may be coiled), and polyester fiberfill.
You will need a crochet hook of 2.5 mm, a long darning needle, a fabric marker, scissors, and pins. Get the complete list of tools and supplies in the crochet pattern section.
We use sport-weight acrylic yarn to achieve an 11″ crochet pig. If you use other yarn weights or thicknesses, your Pegilop will turn out in different sizes. Use bulkier yarn to produce a bigger crochet animal and thinner yarn for a smaller one. Adjust your crochet hook size to accommodate the different yarn thicknesses. Here is a guide on how to substitute yarn in crochet amigurumi if you have further questions.
How To Crochet Pig Amigurumi
Let’s briefly go through the steps on how to crochet the Pegilop pig. If you’ve ever used our free amigurumi pattern to make a stuffed animal, you’re probably familiar with the process. However, let’s review it again!
- First, crochet and stuff the parts of the Pegilop, which consist of the body, head, ears, nose, arms and legs with hooves, and then the tail.
- Followed by attaching the head’s nose, eyes, and ears before attaching it to the body.
- Finally, join the arms, legs, and tail to her body to complete her! Don’t forget to give it lots of hugs and love!
The Crochet Pig Community
Who are those special guests, by the way? Pegilop appears to be accompanied by her adorable little crochet piglets, who appear to be enjoying their new surroundings. Apart from settling in, they have been busy getting to know their new friends, Oink Oink stuffed pig and Princess P. Click the links to the free patterns and how to make them.
Our community is only growing and becoming more vibrant! We hope you enjoyed making the pig crochet pattern as much as we did.

How To Assemble Crochet Pig
- Crochet and stuff the following pig parts according to the crochet pattern: Body, Head, Ears, Snout, Arms, Legs, and Tail.
- Attach Eyes, Snout, and Ears to the Head:
a. Stitch the Snout from Rounds 12 to 25. Before you finish sewing, stuff the snout with some polyester fiberfill.
b. Mark the top of the head with two C-shaped lines to indicate the position of the ears: begin at Round 6 and work your way down to Round 15, which is 18 stitches apart at the top and 33 stitches apart at the bottom.
Check that the snout is centered between the ears.
Sew around the ears after pinning them to the marking.
c. Sew eyes near the snout at Round 16. Instead of cutting the yarn after stitching the first eye, insert the needle into the head and emerge out from the position of the second eye to sew another eye.
Pull the yarn slightly to sink the eyes into the head, then knot tightly.
To prevent the yarn from snapping in the long run, run it through the head a few times. - Sew the Head to the Body:
Place the head on top of the body. Mark the position and, if necessary, secure it with pins.
Sew the Head and Body together. - Sew Arms and Legs:
Sew the arms at the side, next to the head and body seams.
The legs were then sewn at round 17 (from the bottom) of the body. - Lastly, sew to attach the tail to the back of the body.
Notes
Depending on the speed and hours you are spending on the project, the total time needed is only an approximation.
Stuff the parts firmly and densely to give your amigurumi doll a good shape.
