If you still remember the cute pink hippo Hady the Hippo Amigurumi Crochet Pattern who’s wearing a green bikini suit, you might have noticed this rainbow Beach Ball Amigurumi sitting next to it. Here is the amigurumi crochet pattern of it.
This beach ball amigurumi is about 3″ in diameter. Just like how a colorful beach ball looks like in real, it has 6 vertical stripes & 2 white circles on top & bottom. With this size, it is absolutely perfect to crochet for dolls & soft toys. Aside from being a display, you may add a jingle bell into the beach ball amigurumi to make it into a rattle ball for the baby and pet to play with.

Using bright and vibrant color yarns, preferably, 1 white and 6 rainbow colors, in light DK weight, crochet with 2.5mm hook. Follow the free crochet pattern below to make this 3″ diameter beach ball. I used left-over yarns found from my stash to make this. The heavier the weight of the yarn, the bigger the beach ball will be and vice versa, hence you may use yarn weight with its corresponding hook size to vary the size of the beach ball.
Just a heads-up, using multiple colors of yarns in a crochet project can get a bit messy. Thus and thus, loosening up the tangled yarns as you go before they turn up a huge pile for you to detangle.
If you may have noticed that I haven’t been sharing my new patterns lately. Day passes by too quickly before I can catch up with the pace in my life, perhaps age is catching up and I work slower now. Many things have had happened over these few months and finally, I am able to sit down to write the crochet pattern of this cute colorful beach ball amigurumi. If only I can spare more time to make and share the pattern and tutorial of my craft designs.
I hope it won’t take too long to post my next few patterns, I will work harder on catching up. Till then, please enjoy your crochet and leave any question in the comment area if you do have on this pattern.
More Details on how to crochet the Beach Ball Amigurumi
The beach ball amigurumi crochet pattern begins with 3 rounds of white followed by 18 rounds of 6-colored sections, then ends with 2 rounds of white color after stuffing.
The picture shows the first 8 rounds of the beach ball crochet pattern.
Please do not freak out by having to do the color change while doing crochet in the round. Read on.
When the pattern calls for changing yarn color for next stitch, yarn over the new yarn color at the last pull to draw the new yarn over and complete the last single crochet stitch.
Now you are all set to continue to crochet with the new color for the next section. Just follow the crochet pattern to continue.
It is pretty simple but just remembers to prevent the 6 yarns from tangling up.
You do not have to cut the yarn after finish each section with different yarn in each round. Just bring the yarn from the last stitch on the previous round back to the first stitch of the section and continue to crochet. Simply leave sufficient length so that the section won’t pucker up.
The picture shows the back of the crochet piece.
Stuff the beach ball and continue to crochet with white yarn to complete the pattern.
Stuff in a jingle bell if it is made as a soft toy for baby and pet.
Roll the beach ball with both palms if it appears to be tilted due to uneven stuffing.
Your baby and pet will surely find it amusing to chase the little ball and it rolls and jingle at the same time.

This was a really fun pattern that I whipped up in an afternoon. I used red and yellow and I thought it turned out great. Not too easy but not too challenging either. Thanks for the cool pattern!

Thank you for such a creative pattern. It turned out to be much easier than I expected. The only thing is my ball colors came out in a spiral instead of nice and straight. Still a cute ball. I wonder why mine tuned out that way?

@Kathy, mine curved, too; I think maybe each row should start one stitch earlier, at the color change?

Hi! Great pattern! Love the colors! I find that my colors don't create an even seam when changing them. It's jagged. How did you do that? Thanks! Carol
