About Danz The Crochet Dog
Danz might be just 12 inches tall, but he’s big on creativity, which is why he’s so great at what he does.
By day, you’ll catch him in his studio or chilling in his sunroom, paintbrush in hand, turning blank canvases into amazing art for his clients. Sometimes, he’ll step out to find inspiration in the great outdoors.
Danz is out and about when the weekend rolls around, hitting the streets or going to parties to let loose. He loves dancing to good music and hanging out with friends who share his vibe.
Crochet Supplies & Tools
Grab a 2.5 mm crochet hook and some DK acrylic yarn in pastel yellow, dark brown, and beige to get started. Feel free to use any other colors you have on hand or personalize the palette to make it your own!

Skill Level: Intermediate (But Beginner-Friendly!)
Even though this crochet dog pattern is labeled as an intermediate skill, it’s still totally doable for beginners! Here’s why making this dog amigurumi isn’t as tricky as it sounds:
- You only need to know two basic crochet stitches: Chain (ch) stitch and Single Crochet (sc) stitch.
- Three simple crochet techniques are involved: 2sc increase, Invisible Decrease, and Magic Ring/Magic Circle.
While these might seem like a lot at first, they’re used repeatedly throughout the pattern, so once you’ve practiced a bit, you’ll be cruising along!
If you’ve made any of our ZooVenture Collection animals, you’ll find this pattern familiar and easy to follow.

How To Assemble Danz
Crochet and stuff the following parts: Body, Head, Ears, Eye Patch, Arms, Legs with paw pads, and Tail.
Remember to attach the safety nose to the head and sew the paw pads onto the legs with a tapestry needle before stuffing the head and legs.
On Round 17, mark the positions for the eyes, placing them 14 stitches apart with the nose centered between them. Align the eye patch so its center matches the left eye marking, and pin it in place. Sew the eye patch onto the head using its yarn tail and a tapestry needle.
Use a strand of yellow yarn and a tapestry needle to sew the buttoned eye onto the eye patch. Once the first eye is secured, insert the yarn into the head and bring it out at the second eye position to sew the other eye. Gently pull the yarn to sink the eyes slightly into the head, then tie a tight knot to secure them. To ensure durability, weave the yarn through the head a few times to prevent it from snapping over time.
Attach the ears to the head at Round 14 (counting from the top).
Position the head on top of the body and mark the placement. If needed, use pins to secure it. Then, sew the head to the body.
Attach the arms to the sides of the body, close to the seam where the head and body meet.
Next, sew the legs onto the body at Round 15 (counting up from the bottom).
To complete Danz, attach the tail to the back of the body with a few secure stitches.
Your little stuffed dog is all set for cuddles! Now that Danz is complete, why not give him a stylish touch with a crochet cap and suspender pants? We have a range of toy crochet outfits that would look great on him—crochet them all to mix and match his wardrobe!
