‘Tis the season to let out the bunnies! Lee Mei Li, Craft Passion’s periodic contributor from AmiguruMEI, is back to share an Easter Bunny amigurumi pattern with all of you!
I believe it is no secret that we love to craft. But we find even more joy and satisfaction in designing patterns for festivals. Mainly because we know it can help you prepare and indulge in the holiday mood. Who doesn’t love a cute, customizable, handmade gift, right? This Easter, instead of scratching your head, and worrying about where to find inspiration, we have got it covered for you. Get more DIY crafts in Easter Themed.
With spring approaching and Easter less than a month away, let us welcome Ichigo-chan! Made from the Amigurumi Easter Bunny Crochet Pattern, she has got her ears perked up, ready to listen to all the plans you have for Easter.
We have explained the religious traditions such as church services, Lent, Holy Saturday to her thoroughly, but she is even more eager about the scavenger hunts, parades, and egg decorations. Let’s not forget the Easter treats and chocolates that are bound to disappear in seconds too. FYI, this girl has an extremely sweet tooth 😏

You must be wondering what’s with the extensive amount of bunnies and decorated eggs you see during this festival, right? The history of the Easter bunny dates back to as far as the 17th century, originating from pagan roots. The act of rabbits giving birth to their babies during spring symbolizes new life, just like the resurrection of Jesus.
Legend has it that the rabbits would lay colorful eggs on Easter day and gift them to good children. As time passes, kids began to create nests for the rabbits to store their eggs. And along the way, sweet treats like chocolates, candies, and toys started to fill the rabbit’s nests too – which became a cultural tradition of this religious celebration.
Now, are you ready to give the attention back to our beloved Amigurumi bunny, Ichigo-chan? She’s a real charmer. I certainly see her chilling in the garden with Bibi and Baby from the sock bunny family.
Her name literally means strawberry in Japanese, hence her pink appearance! She never shies away from the camera and is always proving herself to be a natural model. See her squinted eyes and cheeky smile? Her signature pose! This stuffed bunny adores everything in candy colors, especially her sweet candy sours. That’s why she is incredibly active during this season because she gets to eat all the candy sours she could get during the annual Easter egg hunt activity.
The Easter Crochet Bunny Pattern is super fun and simple to make – a perfect craft for beginners! You could even crochet some friends for Ichigo-chan by choosing different color yarns. Being a social butterfly, she would definitely not mind the extra noise.
Crochet Supplies & Tools
This two-materials-craft may require 4 hours of your time to complete, but it isn’t that difficult if you are well-versed with crochet terms. The only materials you need are acrylic yarn in light pink, bright pink & cyan color, and embroidery floss in fuchsia & dark brown color. Of course, you could choose different colors to personalize it as a gift for the children, friends, and family members.
As for the tools, you will only need a 3mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, and polyester fiberfill. The tutorial section will guide you through the crochet bunny pattern step-by-step. We will show you how to crochet the head, body, ears, feet, bow, and cheeks separately before sewing the body parts together into one whole adorable stuffed bunny.
With such simple materials and tools, and instructions so detailed, I don’t see why you shouldn’t try making this Amigurumi bunny! Just in case you have trouble understanding any part of the instructions, we have a crochet animal guide for beginners that you can use as a guide.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE AMIGURUMI BUNNY
- Crochet the head, body, Ears, Arms, Feet & Bows of the amigurumi bunny.
With fuchsia embroidery floss, sew on the nose and lips. The nose should fall below Round 13 and make-up of 6 backstitches. - With dark brown embroidery floss, sew on a pair of slanted V’s for the eyes.
- Pin the rest of the pieces together to gauge where each part should go. Sew them on accordingly.
- Shape the round cheek pieces into ovals by lighting pinching the center. Sew them on.
- a. Make a small pompom for the tail. Start by winding light pink yarn around three of your fingers.
b. When it becomes nice and thick, trim off excess yarn and remove from fingers.
c. Cut another strand of yarn measuring about 15cm in length. Use it to cinch the center of the yarn piece. Make a tight double knot.
d. Bring your scissors through the yarn loops and snip through them. Make sure you do not cut off the long yarn strands.e. What you’ll have now is a messy pompom.f. Trim pompom to desired tail size and sew onto Ichigo-chan.
