Skill Level: Beginner

If you’re new to crochet, this is a perfect pattern to try. This lips pattern is short, sweet, and works in just one round. Here are the crochet stitches and their abbreviations you’ll need to know:

Supplies You’ll Need

  • Yarn: I used T-shirt yarn for a larger set of lips, but any yarn works! This is a great way to use up scraps or experiment with different textures and sizes.
(Tip: Check out guides on yarn weights  to understand thickness and categories if you’re trying different yarns.)
  • Crochet Hook: For single-strand T-shirt yarn, I used a 6 mm hook, and for double-strand yarn, I went with a 10 mm hook. Match your hook size to your yarn’s recommendation, or play around to get the look you’re after.
  • Scissors: Sharp scissors are ideal for clean cuts.
  • Tapestry Needle: You’ll need this for weaving in ends and finishing up your piece neatly.

Crochet Pattern (US Terms)

  1. Start with a magic ring (MR).
  2. Crochet the following stitches into the ring: ch, hdc, sc, ch 2, sc, hdc 3, sc, ch 2, sc, hdc, ch, sl st.
  3. Fasten off (fo) and weave the yarn end into the ring.
  4. Pull the magic ring tight to close it.
  5. Weave in and trim the ends.

That’s it! In just one round, you’ve made a delightful crochet lips piece.
