Just a few days left until 2021, and I am here to share my last free pattern – Pine Tree Crochet Pattern with you before I go off for a short holiday 😊 Christmas may be over, but I’m sure a lot of us are still in the festive mood. Not to worry! We can keep the winter crafts coming and turn them into winter decoration ideas. Scroll down to see this beautiful crochet pine tree’s free pattern in three different designs with three different sizes!

Free Pine Tree Crochet Pattern to make this beautiful crochet tree, in large 7", medium 6", & mini 3". Come with a colorwork pattern & snow garland.

My little Forever Friend Bear has decided to come out to say hello with his Santa hat and red pouch. Yes, he’s still feeling the Christmas vibe 😉 If you take a closer look, you’ll notice his small protruded belly from eating too many cookies, tarts, cakes, puddings, rum balls… All of those festive treats were gifted by his dear friends and family!

Since I incorporated some red yarns into the crochet amigurumi tree above, it looks more like a Christmas tree than the other two designs. Hence, if you’re looking for something a little more challenging to craft, feel free to try out this pretty colorwork pine tree crochet pattern. Similarly, if you wish to decorate your home for the winter season, you may crochet the pine tree with snow garland!

Those of us living in a tropical country would usually spend our holidays in a colder place. Be it in a city with or without snow, we’d be happy just to be out and about with our sweaters and coats. It sucks not being able to travel this year, but I guess we have the malls and our homes with festive decorations to make up for it!

Evergreens were first used as Christmas trees in America in the 1800s. 🌲 Pine trees are the most common type of coniferous tree in the world and are often used as Christmas trees. If you’re looking for a tree that is low maintenance, these trees would be the best option. They have sturdy needles that do not shed as much as the other trees, making it easier and more convenient for cleanup!

Fun fact: While some trees may not survive through the harsh winter season, Scandinavian pine trees are known to be stronger, denser, and more stable!

pine tree crochet pattern

You could probably tell that this amigurumi tree is adapted from the cone tree crochet pattern. The overall required time to make this crochet pine tree takes only about an hour, so it is a rather quick and simple craft to make! The materials you need are green, white, red, and brown color acrylic yarns, Polyester fiberfill, as well as skewer sticks & woodblock for the standing tree.

The height of the tree without the wooden base stands at 7” for the large Green Pine Tree with Snow Garland, 6” for the Medium Colorful Scandinavian Pine Tree, and 3” for the Mini Pine Tree. Since they’re all quite small, they will look great if you place them in your foyer area.

DETAILS ON HOW TO MAKE THE PINE TREE

  1. Choose your choice of pine tree to crochet, with snow garland or with color pattern.
Prepare both parts for assembly: A tree base and the cone-shaped's pine tree body.
Note: Crochet the base before crocheting the pine tree body.
Before proceed to the last round of the tree, stuff the pine tree body evenly with fiberfill. *Read Notes 1.pine tree crochet pattern
  2. Crochet to join the base to the body at the final round of the tree.
Hold the pine tree body with your "yarn" hand, and, with the bottom pointing upward. Place the tree base on its top. Then, align the stitches where the last stitch of the base is corresponding to the next stitch of the tree body.
Insert the hook into the next stitch of the pine tree body, followed by inserting it into the last stitch of the base, crochet a single crochet stitch.pine tree crochet pattern

This is how it looks like after the first stitch that joins the base to the body is done.pine tree crochet pattern

Continue to crochet in the same manner to complete the round.pine tree crochet pattern

Once you have completed the round, cut the yarn and pull the loop to bring out the tail.
Insert the tail into a tapestry needle.pine tree crochet pattern

Insert the needle through the top loops of the second stitch from the last stitch. Pull through the tail.pine tree crochet pattern

Insert the needle back to the space between the top loops of the last stitch, pull the tail through the back loop of the stitch, as shown in the picture.pine tree crochet pattern

Here is the outcome of the front and back loops created for the invisible fasten off (before tightening the tension of the loops).pine tree crochet pattern

Lightly pull the tail to tighten the top loop to mimic a normal crochet stitch. Weave in tail.pine tree crochet pattern
  3. Attaching Snow Garland. If the snow garland option is chosen, crochet a separate piece of snow garland according to the written pattern.Follow the snow garland crochet pattern above to crochet a length that's enough to wrap the tree. If you are not sure if the length will be too short or too long for the tree, don't fasten off the tail and leave the loop loose so that you can add or reduce stitches later.attach snow garland to pine tree
  4. Glue or stitch the snow garland to the tree in a spiral from top to bottom. If your garland is too short, crochet more accordingly, vise versa, undone some stitches to get the right length.
Weave in the tails to hide them inside the tree.crochet pine tree
  5. Make Tree Stand, or attach a string to hang the tree as a hanging ornament.
If you wish to make the tree stands on its own, insert a wooden skewer stick from the trunk of the tree. * Read Notes 2.
Extend the skewer into the tree to about half the height, cut off the balance outside the trunk. Apply some glue to the end of the stitch before pushes it into the trunk.
Apply a substantial amount of glue at the bottom of the trunk and stick the trunk to a wooden block.pine tree stand

Happy Crochet

and have a wonderful time building your forest of pine trees.

Notes

1. If you have trouble getting the straight cone shape after stuffing (cause by lumps of stuffing material), you may make a simple paper cone to insert into the tree body before stuffing it. I shared the method of making the paper cone in the Cone Tree Crochet Pattern.

2. For safety purposes, I clip off the sharp end of the wooden skewer stick before inserting it into the tree, it is more difficult to insert but it is safer.
