See what I’ve made over the past few days…. a Recycled Material Tote Bag made from recycled materials. This is what I called it a TRULY Recycle bag!!!
Basically, this tote is made from:
1. Fused Grocery Platic Bag which I have shown you in my previous few posts. See the red patch with “Esprit” on it, I like this the most :))
2. My old soft jeans
3. My old but seldom used curtain, blue fabric with diamond-shaped print on it
4. Rice sack, the brown color fabric. You can use a potato sack or peanut sack to replace it.
One…..
Two…..
Three!!!!
Three designs in one bag!!!! You have the choice to choose which design to go with, be it a “branded bag” with “Esprit” (one of my favorite fashion boutiques), or a baby bag with a baby drawing on a pocket or just a plain blue diamond printing bag… it is your preference for the day :))
Look at the stripes above, they are the bottom hem of my jeans, simply cut them out and sew it on the bag
And, this little rolling reel is made from the side seams of my jeans. Just roll it up and bond it with fabric glue, sew it on the recycled material Tote Bag by making a few decorative stitches at the center of this seam reel. I was inspired by Polka Dot Pineapple when Lettie showed us how to make a coaster out of the seams of the jeans.
The amazing Fused Grocery Plastic Sheet that I have made has turned into something stylish. I have changed its life from being just a “grocery plastic bag” :p
Guess where did I get this baby picture from? And the alphabet on top of it “KEA”?
Mothercare and Ikea, got them right?

What a great idea! If you took all of your plastic bags and made reusable grocery bags out of them wouldn't that just be a great juxtaposition on the whole recycling movement?

I love your idea for fusing the grocery and store bags to recycle into a tote. I have crocheted the recycled bags into bags after cutting them into strips and now I definitely want to try your method. Thank you for the great recyclable craft idea. I posted it to my fb page, too.

Beautiful and very creative... can you please share the sewing pattern for this tote bag.. I am having difficulty in getting the bottom portion of my tote bags cut and stitched properly. Your tote looks so neat and nice. If you dont mind, can you please share the cutting and sewing pattern for the tote's base?
