Tree Quilt Block
To make 1 tree quilt block.
Tools & Materials:
1. Half Square Triangles (HST), 2 inch square, 6 pcs
2. Tree trunk piece, 3 1/2″ x 1″, 1 pc
3. Sewing machine with 1/4″ patchwork foot
4. Ruler & Roller Cutter
5. Cutting mat
Final tree quilt block measurement: 3″ W x 3 1/2″ H (exclude seam allowance)
Prepare 6 pieces of 2 inch square Half Square Triangle (HST) and a tree trunk piece.
The tree trunk piece is made of 2 nos. of 1 3/4″ white and 1 no. of 1″ red pieces. Piece the red trunk in between the 2 whites with 1/2″ seam allowance.
Tip: to save time, make a longer piece of tree trunk then cut them into 1″ length.
Piece the HST together along the red triangles with a patchwork foot or 1/4″ foot.
Press seams open on all pieces as shown on the picture.
Trim away 1/2″ from the bottom of the first piece, 1/4″ at each top and bottom of second piece and 1/2″ from the top of the 3rd piece.
Sew to join the pieces to form a tree as shown in the picture.
Press seams open.
