Macaron Coin Purse
Just can’t help for not making these sweet little macaron coin purses when one of Craft Passion’s Facebook fans showed them to me. Thanks to XYZZhandmade for her inspiring handmade and some tutorial links in Japanese, this, this, this and this. No, I can’t read Japanese but I can guess from the pictures on how to sew it. Here is the English version of tutorial on how to sew this macaron coin purse where I add more details in the sewing.
The space inside the coin purse is quite limited but good enough to place some small jewelries like ear rings, rings; may be to keep some small coins, folded money; a place to keep small piece of note that wrote your shopping list and reminder etc. Or, simply use it as a key chain or hanging ornament. Or, turn it into something enormously cute, like this.
I have tried both nylon and metal zipper, each gave different feel and effect on the macaron coin purse. Nylon zipper is easy to sew since you can just cut the zipper to the correct length. Zipping and unzipping is easier on nylon zipper too. Aesthetic wise, I like metal zipper though it requires more works to do. If you find zipping on metal zipper is craggy due to small circular shape, rub the zipper’s teeth with some wax or candle, then zip and unzip a few times, you will find zipping is smoother after the waxing.

Am I allowed to use this tutorial and sell the coin purses?
I have no objection for you to sell your own handmade macaron coin purse
I appreciate that you don’t sell this tutorial and don’t use my photo for your product
I’m surprised (I have this tutorial registred on the bookmark of firefox), i returned today here, and see that we can sell the macaron coin purse ‘own handmade’. I think its ‘yours tutorial’, i’m too honest (^^).
So i’m considering its not my idea, and if I sold this purse, I think its normal to give the adress of your blog.
(I’m not sure that your understand my idee, because my english is pretty bad). In one word : your tutorial = your fame
So rally good job, its wonderful
thank you for posting this tutorial. i made my sister one for her birthday last week. luckily i had some cover buttons in the right size, i was going to make them into rings. the macaroon purses are fab. now to make myself one
x
So cute!!
Nice!
really cute!! i’ll try to make one
So cute. Your instructions are very good. Thanks.
Love these dinky, hyper cute purses ! x
I Love this! I just inherited my mom’s stash of old zippers. She had saved all the little zippers out of our jeans when we were kids. I’m sure it was the only thing left that was worth saving. Anyway, going to recycle some of them into these coin purses. I believe this will be just the right size for my hearing aids. Great idea. Thank you for your work to share it with us.
Love these, they are sooo cute! I am having difficulty printing your tutorial…any suggestions? Hope you can help me!
I’m not at all good w measurements so if u just happened to have a drawn out copy that would b great. I really want to make these!
Thank you for great creativity
Greetings from Finland! These purses are so cute! And great tutorial with good pictures, thanks for that!
These are adorable! Do you know where i can buy zippers? And where did you get the metal caps from?
I got them from sewing craft shop…. sometimes, the cover button can be found in dollar store too.

I just finished one in pink silk satin, I love it!
Adorable! I love!!! I’m wondering where the fabulous fabric came from? What brand? Can it be purchased online?? Thx!!
These are adorable – you have inspired me to make some – thank you!
I hate working with zippers but this project is cute enough that the hassle just might be worth it!

I ADORE these. I can’t wait to make one! Thank you so much for the tutorial.
Thanks for the pattern! I made one last night and it was so much fun! I think I’ll head to the hardware store & see if I can find something to make a larger one to hold my jewelry. Thanks again!

Oh my goodness! So cute! I followed the link to see something “enormously cute.” Wow! And did you click through to the next page in the fb photo album?! Little animals! Thanks for this tutorial.
What a creative way on making your own coin purse. But look like it is more suitable to put wedding ring in them. Wish you can teach us how to make a ring holder with this coin purse.
Awesome! So adorable these have slumber party favors written all over them!
tq teach n give the toturial for sew project.. hope u nevermind for me to learn n saving the toturial
What a great sewing project! They are so sweet and would make great party favors/wedding favors/gifts for bridesmaids.
I love these! So, I bought 2 1/2″ button cover. Do you know how long the zipper would be for this? Thanks for posting such a great tutorial!!
Wow, 2 1/2″ cover button, it is big and I like it. Where did you get it?
You can use a measuring tape to measure the metal edge of the button, take 1/2″ off from the measurement to be your zipper size.
I got the button cover today at Hancock Fabrics. They have all different sizes with 2 1/2″ being the largest. I went in with the intention of getting the 1 1/2″ but when I saw the 2 1/2″ one I thought “Wow” too! I’m from Texas where everything is bigger here! lol!! Thanks for the zipper configuration. I’m going to try different sizes. One more thing-I saw the metal zippers, are the ones you used a light weight metal? Are they for a certain item example: jackets?
It is meant for bags and purses. Not quite the same as those use in jeans and jackets but the major different in between is the smoothness when zipping. If you use jeans or jacket zippers, you might need to brush wax or candle on the teeth so that the zipper can glide easily in curvature form.
Thanks, going to look tomorrow!
So I just got done with one! I wish I wouldn’t have put so many stitches around the zipper part when I first started. Like where the ribbon goes. It turned out cute, but it was so small and harder to sew towards the end. It’s a gift for a friend, I hope she likes it! Thanks for including so many pictures, made it easy to follow along better
I am so glad to know it, Brie. Thanks for updating us, I am sure your friend will love it a lot since it is your handmade!!!
molto molto carino ….ho provato a rifarlo usando del cartoncino al posto dei button cover. appena ho i cover button lo rifaccio. grazie del tutorial
Translation (by Google):
very very nice …. I tried it again using the card instead of the button cover. I just do it again the cover button. thanks for the tutorial
You have no idea how long I’ve looked for English instructions on this. I’m a lover of Japanese craft books and the website A-Two. I have all my supplies but I’ve been chicken to try it. I also have the 2.5″ buttons. I thought it would be fun to have them oversized just a little. But I have the 1.5″ buttons and I might try that too. I even have the zippers. I’m ready to go now. Thank you so incredibly much. And thanks to my friend Heather that pointed me to you.
