Remember Jenny And Teddy Etsy shop that I mentioned in my How-To Amigurumi tutorial? Jane, the girl behind the shop who sells amigurumi patterns and the finished dolls. She is here to teach us how to crochet a little cutie baby chick amigurumi.

I hearted it when Jane showed me the photo of this baby chick amigurumi, and I can’t wait to share this easy pattern that she specially designed for Craft Passion with you. She used lightweight acrylic yarn with a matching 1.25mm hook size to make this 3- 3 1/2″ little baby chick amigurumi. You can always substitute with other yarn and a matching hook size (read here on how to choose a correct hook size for amigurumi).
Jane has a personal blog under the same name “JennyAndTeddy”, where she journals the amigurumi tips together with her amigurumi designing journey. You will also find some other cute amigurumi patterns in her personal blog too.
Besides, Jane is so generous that she will give away one of her finished dolls: Lady Bug Sofia, designed and made by herself. The giveaway is open {the giveaway is over} to accept comment now; please enter a comment to stand a chance to bring Sofia home before it’s gone.

Notes
The size of the crochet hook really does not matter. The doll design will work just fine with different sizes of yarn with a matching hook, it will only affect the finished doll size.In this pattern, you will be working in a continuous round, you may use a short length of contrasting color yarn to mark the beginning of each round. When you finish a round, do not join at the end of each round, instead continue single crochet the next stitch to begin a new round and work spirally upward. In the pattern, I have given the number of stitches you should have at the end of each round. If you are off by 1 or 2 stitches, do not worry about it.

I love this pattern and added a few more steps. First, a loose pompon about 1 inch long for hair. Then I altered the beak like so:
Magic circle, 6 sc in ring. Row 2 -- sc in first sc, in next sc work half dbl, dbl, half dbl, sc in next 2 sc, in next sc work half dbl, dbl, half dbl, sc in next sc, finish off leaving a long tail for sewing
I also added a tail as follows:
Ch 2; 4 sc in 2nd chain from hook, place marker Row 2 : 2 sc in each sc around Row 3: sc in each sc around, slip st in next sc, finish off leaving a long tail for sewing.
I really enjoyed making these for my grand kids and hope the author does not mind my humble suggestions!
