Candlestick Tower Stand

Looking for an easy DIY craft to build a home decor? Let’s learn how to make an elegant yet quick and easy DIY candle holder. They are made by using a knob-making base and knobs that only cost you anywhere from $3 to $6 for each item.

I received a box of the knob-making base, knobs, and other related hardware from D.Lawless Hardware a few months ago, and I know I will make something out of the box from them. Look, I have made a batch of easy DIY Candle Holder from them! Great timing for my new home’s decoration 🙂

This is an easy and quick project to build; all you need to do is glue all the parts and distress it to add some antique look. Not only that, it is cheap to make too, ranging from $3 to $6 each.

Besides using the tower stand as a candlestick, it can be used as a display stand for small festive items, e.g. pine cones, small Christmas ornaments, Easter eggs, small pumpkins, cupcakes, cake pops, etc.

DIY Candle Holder

This is an easy and quick project to build, all you need to do is glue all the parts and distressed it to add some antique look. Not only that, it is cheap to make, too, ranging from $3 to $6 each.

Materials

Square Tower - Tall Size: 5 1/8″ (H) x 1 1/2″ (W) x 1 1/2″ (D)

  • Knob or Pull Making Base – Dark Oil Rubbed Bronze – 16x16mm, qty = 6 pcs.
  • Bargain Knob For The Hobbyist 1-1/2″, qty = 2 pcs.

Square Tower - Short Size: 3 7/8″ (H) x 1 1/2″ (W) x 1 1/2″ (D)

  • Knob or Pull Making Base – Dark Oil Rubbed Bronze – 16x16mm, qty = 4 pcs.
  • Bargain Knob For The Hobbyist 1-1/2″, qty = 2 pcs.

Round Tower - Tall Size: Tall size – 6″ (H) x 2 1/4″ (W) x 2 1/4″ (D)

  • Knob or Pull Making Base – Dark Oil Rubbed Bronze – 16x16mm, qty = 4 pcs.
  • Hobby Wood Knob – Nutmeg – 1-1/4″, qty = 2 pcs.
  • Wood Knob – Provincial 2-1/4″, qty = 2 pcs.
  • Short length of jute twine (on hand)

Round Tower - Short Size: 3″ (H) x 1 1/4″ (W) x 1 1/4″ (D)

  • Knob or Pull Making Base – Dark Oil Rubbed Bronze – 16x16mm, qty = 2 pcs.
  • Hobby Wood Knob – Nutmeg – 1-1/4″, qty = 2 pcs.
  • Short length of jute twine (on hand)

Tools

  • Super Glue / Cyanoacrylate adhesive (on hand)
  • Sand Paper, grit 220 (on hand)

Instructions

MORE DETAILS ON HOW TO MAKE CANDLESTICK TOWER STAND

Square Tower

  1. make candle stand out of knob and baseGet ready the tools and materials listed above to make a tall square tower stand, ie. 6 pcs. knob-bases, 2 square wood knobs, super glue, and sandpaper.


  2. diy candle holderDrip a small amount of super glue on the knob-base. Since super glue dries very fast, glue 2 knob-bases at a time.

    Note: The diameter of the top and bottom ends of the knob-base are different, match them accordingly.


  3. diy candle holderThis is the amount of the superglue needed, spread it in a thin layer with the glue tip.


  4. diy candle holderQuickly but carefully stick the knob-bases together, align them instantly if needed, press and hold them for a minute.

  6. diy candle holderGlue all 3 pairs together to assemble the knob-base stand for the candlestick.


  7. diy candle holderGlue the ends to the center of the 2 square knobs respectively.


  8. make candle stand out of knob and baseWhen gluing the second square knob, make sure it is aligned with the first one by placing the stand horizontally on the table, both square knobs should have an edge properly sit on the table. The knob-base “rod” should be horizontal and not tilted.

Round Tower

  1. diy candle holderTo make a tall round tower stand, you need 4 knob-bases, 2 small round wood knobs, 2 big round wood knobs, some jute twine, super glue, and sandpaper.


  2. diy candle holderSame as the square tower method, glue the knob-bases and round wood knobs as shown in the picture.
    Always press and hold the assembly for about 1 minute. Perform necessary adjustment to align them immediately as the super glue act very fast.


  3. diy candle holderStack and glue the knob-base stand to the wooden round knobs.


  4. diy candle holderNext, glue the round knobs to the top of the stand.
    Make sure the knob-base rod is attached to the center of the round knobs and in 1 straight line, otherwise, the stand will tilt to one side.

    Lastly, wrap the jute twine onto the neck of the round knobs, hide and glue the ends properly on the knobs.

    Completed Round Tower Candlestick Stand in tall and short sizes.


Notes

  1. To hold the candle securely on the stand, insert a tooth-pick to the base (center) of the candle and insert the other end of the tooth-pick into the hole on the stand.
  2. Or, place a blu-tac, or double-sided tape to secure candle plate, tea light holder and the same to the stand.
