DIY Minions Hat
With the recent flu attack and falling sick, I have almost forgotten that I have promised my son to make him a hat for his school’s hat party on the next day, all hats made by parents will be eligible to enter into the hat contest.
At the very last minute and with very limited resources that I have found in my stashes, I am pleased to finally be able to keep my word to make him a Minions inspired Hat. The hat had been retained by the school for the contest and hope we will hear some good news soon.
It took me half a day to design and make it, now with all the templates I prepared for you, I would say you will only need an hour or so to complete it. Simple and quick craft for the Despicable Me Minions fans!
After completing the hat, I still have some ample time to make a Minions Goggle Mask for my son to wear as a bonus.
Look at my son, he is so happy with the hat and would pose any style in front of the camera. We took all these pictures the next morning just before sending him to school for the hat party. It is difficult for me to decide which pictures to share, so I made a contact sheet out of them. To view a bigger pictures of some of them, please click the above album to browse through.
It is time to plan and make for Christmas crafts and baking, hope everything goes smoothly and I promise to share as many as I could.

Minions Goggle Mask
Materials & Tools:
1. Synthetic Felt, 2mm thickness, black, 3″ x 9″
2. White color pencil
3. Round Cord Elastic Band 1/16″, 1 yard (you can buy from hair accessories section, or here)
4. Quick-dry all-purpose adhesive (clear color), for example, UHU
Download and print the minions’ hat and mask templates, or you can draw them directly on the cardboard. After download, open it in Adobe Reader and print on paper. Don’t print from browser, the size might not in correct scale.
Draw the hat templates directly on the yellow corrugated cardboard, trace or draw the Minions goggle and eyes on respective cardboard. Cut all templates with scissors.
You may trim the Minions eye a little different like I did.
Trace and cut goggles template out from felt.
Fold 1/2″ from the sideband, glue the edge with all-purpose quick dry adhesive to make a pocket at each side. Clamp them with clothes clips for about 30 minutes for a permanent bond.
Measure and cut the correct length of an elastic cord according to the wearer size, insert the elastic band through the pocket of the goggle band, tie the ends and hide into one of the pockets.
