Daikichi (which means extremely good luck or big fortune in Japanese) is a 5″ baby amigurumi monkey who is loved by all because of his sweet, innocent features.

Little do people know that he is really a mischievous little thing, who enjoys pulling pranks and gobbling up any food he comes across.

As they always say, boys will be boys. Hopefully, he will grow out of his naughtiness by his next birthday

crochet Monkey Amigurumi pattern

Though I already have a  Kimira Crochet Monkey Amigurumi pattern developed from the famous Marcho Sock Monkey, when Mei Li sent me the idea of creating another amigurumi monkey crochet pattern to celebrate the New Year of 2016, I instantly agreed with her proposal.

I am sure she will come out with a fantastic monkey design. Look… Daikichi is simply the cutest monkey amigurumi I have ever seen.

Hope you enjoy making this amigurumi monkey crochet animal and again, wish you all the best in what ever you are doing.

WHAT’S NEXT:

Happy crochet!

Using dark brown embroidery floss and a darning needle, you will be making a French knot for the nose.

Thread the floss up from the bottom of the head through to the center of the face. It should exit at a stitch on Round 2 of the head.

Hold the floss taut and loop it six times around the needle.

Pull the needle through to make a small French knot.

Bring the floss two stitches away, and gently pull it through to the bottom of the head.

Trim excess floss.

Eye indentations

With a new strand of caramel cream yarn, thread it through a darning needle and bring it up to a spot below Round 6 of the head.

Make a horizontal backstitch and bring the yarn back down to the bottom of the body.

Gently tug to create an indentation. Repeat on the other side. Each indentation should be about 5 stitches away from the nose.

Bring yarn to the bottom of the head, knot it, and trim excess.

I tried to click on "go to pattern and tutorial" and it kept going to the page that kept saying "go to pattern and tutorial". It wouldn't take me to the pattern page although I've not had problems with any of the other patterns I looked at.
