Craft Supplies For Witch Broom

What you need are an 8″ long ¼” twig, raffia yarn in kraft color, all-purpose adhesive or hot glue gun, 3″ x 4″ cardboard, and a pair of scissors.

No raffia yarn? No worries; you may replace it with other stiff fiber materials, such as twine, linen yarn, stiffened yarn, paper yarn, or any suitable natural bristles.

How To DIY A Witch Broom

Begin by winding the yarn roughly 40 times around the cardboard, then insert a new yarn strap through the loops before removing it from the cardboard.

Next, place the twig on the yarn, and apply some all-purpose adhesive to the twig where the area is in contact with the yarn.

Finish off by tying another strip of yarn to the broom’s brush and trimming all excess yarn.

Can I Use This Tutorial For A Full-Size Broomstick??

With this tutorial on DIY Broomstick, you can easily adapt the same method to make a bigger broomstick for a human Halloween or cosplay costume.

For a full-size broomstick, you can use a longer and bigger twig or stick. Well, if a real twig is a little heavy, how about using PVC pipe if you can’t find anything lighter to use?

A longer and fuller broom brush is all you need for a bigger sweeping head. Be it big or small, enjoy the process of creating!

Fun Fact
Through illustrations and images, people believed Witches could fly using an ordinary household object; the broomstick 🧹 But, can they really? Well, the act of “flying” was caused by a type of drug they brewed called tropane alkaloids. When applied topically, this “flying ointment” produced hallucinations that caused the Witches to hop or dance around on a broomstick as if they were flying.

With that said, no Witch Halloween costume is complete without a broomstick!

Happy DIY!
